About the area

An embrace between mountains and sea that contains the essence of uncontaminated nature. Villasimius is a pearl in Southern Sardinia, a village nestled between bays that hide archaeological treasures, colonies of flamingos and dolphins. Over thirty kilometers of coastline with white beaches washed by turquoise water and the protected marine area of ​​Capo Carbonara, with the pinnacles of granite rocks crossed by schools of fish that move like clouds, among Roman and Punic finds. A stretch of sea that surrounds two wonderful islands. To the south, that of Cavoli, dominated by the lighthouse built on an ancient Aragonese tower and the Madonna del Naufrago, a sculpture more than three meters high by the Sardinian artist Pinuccio Sciola which represents maternal love in the gesture of stealing the child to the depths of the sea. To the east, however, the island of Serpentara, uninhabited, with granite rocks and the tower of San Luigi, built during the Spanish domination. Paradises where hawks and seagulls nest, reachable by sea along a jagged coast that hosts inlets surrounded by granite boulders with white sand seabed.

Inebriated by the scent of juniper, myrtle and oleander, enjoy an alternation of white dunes like those of Porto Sa Ruxi, Phoenician sites like in Campus and strips of sand separated by bodies of water like in Porto Giunco. And finally indulge in the pleasure of the palate by tasting the malloreddus - gnocchi seasoned with simple tomato or local cheeses such as pecorino - the roasted porceddu - tender suckling pig served with myrtle leaves - and the fregola with clams, a dish that combines the encounter between peasant culture, with durum wheat semolina pasta worked into balls, and seafood culture with clams, served alone or with fish or seafood.
