About

About the area

Suspended between the rock and the blue of the Adriatic Sea. Termoli is its ancient seaside village surrounded by fortified walls and beaches on which you can walk along the water thanks to the trabocchi, the traditional nineteenth-century platforms typical of this extreme part of central Italy. A treasure chest of timeless beauty with cobbled streets, sometimes as narrow as the Rejecelle, to pass through one at a time and colorful houses to walk up to the Svevo Castle, the symbol of the city. Built during the reign of the Normans and transformed by Frederick II of Swabia with the towers and the idea of a military fortress. At the top a large terrace offers a breathtaking view as far as the Tremiti Islands. Cliffs, caves, Aleppo pines and the inebriating scent of myrtle, a wild charm enveloped by the transparent sea. A protected marine reserve populated by lobsters, seahorses, gorgonians and the Padre Pio of the Abysses, the most impressive underwater statue in the world and on land a place populated by legends and the remains of refuges for hermits and dissidents. Behind the coast, however, there are gentle hills with villages that preserve treasures from the Roman era such as the tuff amphitheater and fourteenth-century paintings such as Larino and more on limestone mountains that attract speleologists from all over the world and from which it is possible to see the first sunrise it lights up the Adriatic Sea while above the Tyrrhenian the sky is still starry. Paths and sheep tracks that were the ancient routes of transhumance of a still uncontaminated land which is reflected in its genuine cuisine, from fish broth to caciocavallo, from olives to cavatelli to nocino, a sweet liqueur with a pleasantly bitter aftertaste. A journey to savor authenticity.
